Ex-mayor of Vladivostok Gumenyuk left prison for the Northern Military District zone
Former mayor of Vladivostok Oleg Gumenyuk will be sent from prison to a special military operation zone, Kommersant reports, citing lawyer Alexander Kitaev.
Previously, Gumenyuk was sentenced to 16 years in prison for bribery, but his sentence was later commuted to 12 years. The amount of bribes proven in court amounted to 32 million rubles, the punishment also included a fine of 150 million rubles. At the same time, Gumenyuk himself did not admit guilt in court.
Reportedly, now the former head of the capital of Primorye will not need to serve a prison sentence. He has already concluded a contract with the Russian Ministry of Defense, and will soon go to the Northern Military District.
The lawyer noted that he does not know where Gumenyuk is currently located, but assumes that he is undergoing training before being sent to the combat zone. It is known that the former mayor of Vladivostok served in the USSR Navy from 1985 to 1987. He has served as acting mayor of Vladivostok since December 2018, officially holding this position from March 2019 to May 2021. During his work, his work was negatively noted by the Presidential Envoy to the Far Eastern Federal District Yuri Trutnev and the Governor of Primorye Oleg Kozhemyako.
