A former lifeguard from Voronezh became the record holder for the fastest pedicure technique

“I don’t have any squeamishness about working with the soles of my feet”

You can get into the book of records in different ways. For example, to serve for a working day … 18 female legs! And do not think that we are talking about something indecent – Artem Plotnikov did it masterfully, like a true gentleman. A former lifeguard, an EMERCOM employee and a lawyer by education, he unexpectedly found himself in the field of pedicure. And he became the owner of the world record for the number of clients served in 12 hours. About how the record itself took place and why he does it at all, Artem Plotnikov told the MK correspondent.

How did I get into this profession? It’s a long story! Now I am 38 years old. I am a lawyer by education (I graduated from the Institute of Economics and Law). Then he served in a rescue center near Voronezh and stayed there to work as a lifeguard. I really liked the service, I had an excellent commander. But that was a very long time ago – from 2002 to 2006. The task of my unit was precisely to ensure the actions of rescuers. And he left because at that time the salaries were meager, and I already had a family, a child. There was an opportunity to go into the auto business. Started as a sales manager. Then he opened a small shop in which he worked himself, but it was already a different business in general – bottling beer. I’ve been looking for myself all my life! Then he worked for almost a year in the United Arab Emirates as a car sales manager in the CIS countries. But they didn’t extend our visa, everyone was sent home, and my new life began again, as they say.

How did you get into this business? The case was in 2016. I sold products related to manicure and pedicure. And at some point I had to do it myself!

– But for this you need to know physics, the dynamics of the human body, have a medical education

– Not. Enough knowledge of biology, human anatomy. We live in the 21st century! I studied everything on the Internet, took courses. Here I just applied the same physics. In what? The tool rotates in a completely different way and, understanding how and where, at what speed it rotates, you can make the foot treatment as quickly as possible. The first subjects were my mother and wife. They supported me, of course. They understood what I was doing and what my ultimate goal was.

– Which?!

– So that the master stops harming the feet of clients, and there is no need to go to the doctor after going to the pedicurist, and, alas, there are many such cases. And the first time I did a pedicure to my driver. He didn’t even resist!

– But how did you come up with the idea to participate in the record and in general what kind of record is this?

– Initially, we wanted to get into the record book, applied, organized. As a result, everything took place on January 15th. We rented a whole room, invited guests, and those who would record everything, filmed, presenters and specialists. Everything was broadcast online from 10 am to 10 pm. Whom I did then a pedicure – I have no idea. Women, girls came, they took from the audience. It all lasted 12 hours, during which I managed to do pedicures to 18 ladies. One took an average of 32 minutes. It was the treatment of two feet and a nail plate, without varnishing (I am generally against coating in principle, so that there are no subsequent problems). I rested for five to seven minutes between clients.

– What was the record?

– Probably, I am the first man in general who did this with his technique and instrument. And I’m not a master, once again I repeat. Such records were in the field of manicure, but we were offered in the field of pedicure and we went for it! But it was I who received a certificate from the international book of records.

– And what is it like to pore over women’s legs all day?

– Fine! On the legs it is not written whose they are. Men get pedicures too. I did not want to, but I had to learn this, since I took it professionally. For some reason, in Russia, we believe that if a man does a pedicure, then he is like the wrong orientation. And he is a normal clean person! I have no squeamishness about working with the feet, on the contrary, I want people to take care of themselves.

– How does your family feel about your hobby? Is your wife jealous of your clients?

– I’m a father of many children! Julia is my third wife. We have three children with her (two joint – a son and a daughter with a slight difference) and her daughter from her first marriage. I also have two children from my first wife. I love all my children and take care of them. Julia understands me in everything, but she simply has no time to be jealous of my clients and women’s legs, she is on maternity leave, she has two babies in her arms! And why?! Friends are okay too.
