An outbreak of African swine fever (ASF) has been identified at the Rusagro-Primorye pig farm in the village of Grigoryevka, Mikhailovsky district. In May of this year, ASF outbreaks were also identified at other pig-breeding complexes of Rusagro-Primorye LLC in the Mikhailovsky district – Leninsky-1 and Leninsky-2.
“An ASF outbreak was detected at the Rusagro-Primorye breeding farm. A quarantine has been introduced at an enterprise in the Mikhailovsky district. At the moment, activities are being carried out in accordance with the established rules,” says Stanislav Krushinsky, head of the veterinary inspectorate of the Primorsky Territory, in a commentary provided to Kommersant by the press service of the regional government.
According to the Telegram channel Amur Mash, due to ASF, more than 38 thousand pigs will have to be sent to slaughter. The press service of the regional government could not quickly clarify the figure.
Governor of Primorsky Krai Oleg Kozhemyako in May, in connection with the spread of infection, signed quarantine order. As stated, the number of pigs subject to sanitary liquidation at Rusagro-Primorye LLC amounted to no more than 12% of the total livestock in the region.
November 2 Primorye authorities reported, that “ASF was defeated at the largest pig farm in Primorye.” The quarantine at two pig-breeding complexes, Leninsky-2 and Leninsky-1, has been lifted. Nevertheless, the regional government admitted that there remained “one outbreak of the disease – in the village of Krounovka, Ussuri urban district.”
An outbreak of ASF was discovered in a private household in the village of Krounovka in September. There “under seizure” horrible 308 pigs.
