A film about master of sports Anastasia Diodorova will be shot in Yakutia

They are preparing to film a sports drama about Paralympic silver medalist, world and European champion, Honored Master of Sports of Russia in swimming among athletes with musculoskeletal disorders, Anastasia Diodorova in Yakutia. The film will be directed by Sandal Baishev. The Sakhafilm film company spoke about this.
Anastasia was born and raised in the capital of the country. At the age of three, she went on vacation to the village of Tumul, Megino-Kangalassky ulus, to visit her grandmother. Climbing into an open transformer booth, the girl received a severe electric shock. She remained alive, but the Yakut and Moscow doctors were unable to save her hands.
The decision to tell the life story of a strong-willed girl in a full-length feature film was met with the support of the Ministry of Culture and Spiritual Development of the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia).
The director of the film said that the idea came to him while working on the post-production of the film “Tygyn Darkhan” in 2019. He decided to immediately meet Anastasia and her mother Lyudmila and received consent to film.
Since 2020, Sandal Baishev has participated in all grant competitions. In 2022, he managed to receive a subsidy from the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia) in the amount of 5-6 million rubles.
The director shared that the events of 2003 were taken as a basis. Then 13-year-old Anastasia had just received a ticket to participate in the Olympics in Athens. In the film, the setting will be the city of Yakutsk, Moscow, as well as the village of Tumul.
The film is currently at the casting stage. Filming is scheduled to begin on February 20, 2024.
