The New Year has not yet begun, but people are already partying with all their might, with sad consequences. On the night of December 27-28, a woman and a child were found freezing in Yekaterinburg. In the bitter cold, the family sat at the entrance without hats, jackets or shoes. The police found out the terrible details of this story.

At about six in the morning, a resident of a house on Opalikhinskaya Street in Yekaterinburg left the entrance. Usually at this time only the wind blows through the area and there is dead silence. However, a surprise awaited the early bird: an undressed (without outerwear) woman was sitting on the steps at the entrance with a child of about ten years old. He, too, was naked and barefoot. From horror and cold, the strangers could not speak. The woman could only move by crawling: either because of frostbitten feet, or for some other reason.

The man immediately called an ambulance. Other neighbors came running to hear the noise and immediately wrapped and warmed the freezing family. Nobody knew who these people were and why they were at their entrance. Some plot from the fairy tale “Morozko”….

– We thought that the woman had run away from her tyrant husband. She grabbed the child and jumped out with what she was wearing. Everyone felt very sorry for her. The boy was given shoes, they were too big for him, but at least it was something. They found some jackets and hats,” said a resident of the house on Opalikhinskaya Street.

“I don’t understand why she didn’t scream or call for help.” She had a child with her! I had to ring the intercom and shout outside the windows. If I were her, I would break the window to attract attention. After all, the child is in danger! – another participant in the rescue of mother and baby is perplexed.

The police quickly solved the New Year’s mystery. It became known that the day before the woman had obviously had too much alcohol. Under the influence, she began to have visions. The woman imagined that “something terrible and dangerous” had settled under the bed. She grabbed her son and jumped out the window.

Fortunately, there was heavy snowfall in Yekaterinburg the day before. There were large snowdrifts under the windows. The woman broke her legs but survived. Crawling, she reached the nearest entrance, where she decided to stay. Her son followed her. The police found that the boy was nine years old and was not harmed by the actions of his crazy mother.

The woman is now in the hospital, and the child has been returned to his father. Their family will be taken care of by guardianship staff.

“Every new year we collect frozen people,” ambulance paramedic Valery Pestun told MK. – There is more work than during coronavirus. People are freezing on playgrounds, benches, near shops and at entrances. The peculiarity of a drunken body is that it does not adequately perceive cold. At first it seems to a drunk that he doesn’t care about the cold. Blood rushes to the head, heat is felt, but then a sharp cooling stage occurs. In this case, a sober person tries to keep warm, but a drunk person is unable to begin to save himself. It’s easier for him to lie down and freeze.

Be vigilant, the doctor urges. Stay overnight where you drank and do not go out while heavily intoxicated.
