The Russian government has submitted to the State Duma a bill to increase the minimum wage (minimum wage) from January 1, 2024 to 19,242 rubles. It was published in the Duma electronic database.
“The adoption of the bill will help ensure an increase in wages for about 4.8 million workers,” says the explanatory note to the bill. The document also states that the increase in the minimum wage in 2024 will be 18.5% compared to last year.
The authors of the law added that in the President’s message to the Federal Assembly, instructions were given “to ensure, from January 1, 2024, an additional increase in the minimum wage by 10%.” The document also states that from 2025 the ratio of the minimum wage to the median wage should be no less than 48%.
Earlier it became known that the Ministry of Labor had developed a two-stage scheme for identifying those employed in the shadow sector of the economy. Experts explain that bringing workers out of the shadows is necessary to form a stable revenue base for regional budgets.
