“If an NPO is recognized as a foreign agent, this means that, receiving support in one form or another from abroad, they work against the interests of our country, violating security and stability,” Zanko explained.
It is clarified that the amendments apply not only to NCOs-foreign agents, but also to all legal entities recognized as foreign agents.
The bill also introduces administrative punishment for officials in case of violation of the law on foreign agents. For providing premises to a foreign agent, an official will face a fine of up to 100,000 rubles. or disqualification for up to two years.
On December 1, 2022, the law “On Control over the Activities of Persons Under Foreign Influence” came into force in Russia. According to the document, a person who receives support from abroad or is under foreign influence and is engaged in political activities can be recognized as a foreign agent.
