State Duma deputies from the United Russia party introduced a bill that would exempt payments to needy students of universities and colleges from taxes. This was announced by the Secretary of the General Council of the party Andrei Turchak. The corresponding bill also appeared in base State Duma today, December 2.
According to the law, financial assistance to needy students is considered income and is subject to personal income tax at a rate of 13%, Mr. Turchak recalled. In his opinion, such payments cannot be considered income, since in fact they are allocated to a person to overcome a difficult life situation.
“We hope that fellow deputies, and then senators, will promptly consider our initiative. On a budget scale, the drop in revenues will be insignificant, the state will not become poorer,” Andrei Turchak wrote in his Telegram channel.
