The Bashkir deputies submitted a proposal to the State Duma of the Russian Federation to send prisoners to the NVO zone, subject to their voluntary consent. The relevant document has already been submitted to the lower house of parliament.
The head of the State Assembly of the Republic, Konstantin Tolkachev, explained that in order to protect the interests of Russia, it is necessary to consolidate the legal framework for attracting convicted citizens to participate in the SVO in Ukraine or in other military operations.
He noted that this measure will allow the convicts to atone for their guilt before society and will increase the strength of the Russian army.
One day at the front is proposed to be counted as 10 days in the colony. If a prisoner is wounded, the issue of mitigation of punishment and further imprisonment will be decided by the court.
Those prisoners who will serve their sentence in the form of detention in a disciplinary military unit, forced labor or imprisonment will also receive a deferment.
Those convicted of serious crimes, including rape and abuse of children, will not be involved in hostilities.
