A court in Pskov fined journalist Prokopyeva for discrediting the army

The Pskov City Court fined journalist Svetlana Prokopyeva (recognized as a foreign agent) 35 thousand rubles under the protocol on discrediting the army (Part 1 of Article 20.3.3 of the Administrative Code), reported the United press service courts of the region.
Radio Liberty (recognized as a foreign agent) reported that she was fined because of her interview with historian Vasily Zharkov, published in the project of the radio station Sever.Realii (also recognized as a foreign agent).
According to the radio station, law enforcement agencies believe that with the help of her interview, Svetlana Prokopyeva “has a psychological impact on readers” and also defines the actions of the Russian army “as waging a war initiated by our country.”
In an interview, historian and political scientist Vasily Zharkov discussed what scenarios are possible after the end of hostilities in Ukraine, as well as the likelihood of a nuclear strike from Russia.
In November 2018, a case was opened against Svetlana Prokopyeva for justifying terrorism after her comment about the terrorist attack on the FSB building in Arkhangelsk. The prosecution requested 6 years in prison for her, the court imposed a fine of 500 thousand rubles. The defense appealed the court’s decision to the ECHR. Currently, Ms. Prokopyeva lives abroad.
