A court in Moscow gave 11 years to a girl whom a friend from the United States sent painkillers

The Solntsevsky District Court of Moscow sentenced 26-year-old powerlifter Yevgenia Makarenko to 11 years in prison. Kommersant was informed about this in the press service of the court. The girl was found guilty of smuggling and illegal acquisition of drugs on a large scale (part 3 of article 229.1 of the Criminal Code, part 2 of article 228 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation).

In 2021, the girl received a package from a 75-year-old friend from the United States, in which, according to SOTAthere were 3.71 grams of marijuana, 15 morphine tablets, and 10 amphetamine and oxidone painkillers.

Yevgenia Makarenko was detained on December 23, 2021, when she was supposed to pick up a package from American Frank Raucci. A few years ago, she met him on the Internet. The girl’s mother, Natalya Egoshina, told SOTA that Makarenko did not know there were drugs in the box and thought it was jeans.

Frank Raucci told SOTA that he did not know that these substances were banned in Russia. The man wanted to send pain pills to the girl, as the girl is engaged in powerlifting and, most likely, is in pain from high loads. Despite this, as the girl’s mother said, the investigators did not interrogate the man, although the lawyer of the convicted woman indicated his Skype account and address in the case file.

In addition, according to the mother of the convict, the investigators considered the conversation in the correspondence about the model of jeans that the girl from the United States was supposed to receive as a veiled conversation about the weight and packaging of drugs. Other evidence of smuggling, according to the girl’s mother, was not found in the correspondence. A drug test showed that she did not use illegal substances. Makarenko insisted on conducting an interrogation using a polygraph, however, according to her mother, the court denied her this.

According to the site NGS.ru, before moving to Moscow, the girl lived in Novosibirsk. In the capital, she worked as a representative of a Novosibirsk company. In her spare time she was engaged in powerlifting, Thai boxing and yoga. The girls practiced every day.
