A court in Moscow fined the American logistics company UPS 3 million rubles for repeatedly ignoring the obligation to localize the data of Russian citizens in Russia.
“United Parcel Service Inc. is punished with an administrative fine in the amount of 3 million rubles,” said acting magistrate Alexander Mikhalev of the Tagansky district of the capital.
The company was found guilty of repeated failure to comply with the requirement to localize personal data of Russians in databases located on the territory of the Russian Federation (Part 9 of Article 13.11 of the Code of Administrative Offenses of the Russian Federation).
At the same time, the court, having heard the arguments of the defense, considered it possible to impose a fine on UPS below the lower limit of 6 million rubles.
At the beginning of last summer, UPS was fined 1 million rubles for the first violation of the requirement to localize data of citizens of the Russian Federation (Part 8 of Article 13.11 of the Code of Administrative Offenses of the Russian Federation).
