A scandal erupted in Latvia over a comic strip with Ukrainian Armed Forces soldiers in the form of pigs

A loud scandal occurred in Latvia – the reason was a comic posted on the LSM portal, where soldiers of the Ukrainian army were depicted as pigs. RIA Novosti reports this with reference to the Delfi publication.

Moreover, as noted, this portal is financed by the Latvian state. The comic was dedicated to the second anniversary of the start of the Northern Military District, and in it, pigs in the uniform of the Armed Forces of Ukraine depicted Ukrainian soldiers. The publication of the comic caused a storm of criticism and wide resonance.

Trying to justify themselves, the LSM editors noted that pigs constantly appear in its comics, including in peaceful professions. She also pointed out that this creation, called “Pig Comics,” is published weekly and reflects events in Latvia and the world.

Subsequently, the editor-in-chief admitted that this publication of “Pig Comics” was inappropriate. An apology was issued to readers, and the publication was deleted.

At the same time, the artist creating the said comic commented on the incident on social networks, saying that “Pig Comics” always support Ukraine.” However, the public has called on authorities to weigh in on the latest issue of Pig Comics.
