The Nizhny Novgorod region is represented in the second strongest division of Russian mini-football by “Norman” – the backup team of “Torpedo”. Last season, the Nizhny Novgorod region was also represented in the Major League by the Football-Hockey-NN team, based in Gorodets. Due to financial problems, Football-Hockey-NN left the Major League, but its players remained at the professional level.
Now Alexander Zakharov, a graduate of Nizhny Novgorod football who attended the Torpedo academy, is playing in the Western Conference of the Major League. Alexander made his debut in the Major League with Norman, and he spent a full season at the professional level in Football-Hockey-NN, where he was the main goalkeeper and often received playing time. In the summer of 2023, Alexander Zakharov moved to Vodnik Arkhangelsk and became No. 1 in the goalkeeper line.
On December 6, Vodnik achieved its second victory in a row in the regular season of the Western Conference of the Major League. The club from Arkhangelsk beat its rivals representing Rostov-on-Don in an away match with a score of 5:4. Alexander Zakharov was a direct participant in his team’s victory over MFK Rostov.
