Chess festival in memory of A.N. Lastina will take place on November 11 in the resort Zheleznovodsk. The tournament will be held in three categories. It is planned that more than 100 athletes from the Stavropol Territory, as well as from the Rostov region, Chechnya, North Ossetia, Karachay-Cherkessia, and Kabardino-Balkaria will participate.

“Alexander Lastin was one of the strongest grandmasters in Russia, and in 2002 he became the Russian champion. In his career, he won the largest competitions: the Russian Championship, stages of the Russian Cup. In 1995 Alexander Lastin defeated Garry Kasparov in the strongest Moscow tournament. It is very honorable that the festival in his memory will be held here in Zheleznovodsk,” said the mayor of the city, Evgeny Bakulin.

It was previously reported that An all-style karate tournament was held in Stavropol.
