On Saturday, December 16, a charity sports event took place in Tula – the mass race “More than Running”.

700 runners from 21 constituent entities of the Russian Federation ran their distances in order to raise funds to help a child with cerebral palsy. The goal of the event is to raise 460 thousand rubles for 6-year-old Anya Shorokhova, a girl with cerebral palsy. To stand confidently and not lose coordination, a child needs a verticalizer.

The oldest participant in the event is 80 years old, and the youngest runner is only 4 years old.

The head of the Ministry of Sports of the Tula Region, Dmitry Yakovlev, came out to greet the participants of the race, noting that each of the athletes today is an example for everyone. Residents of the region and their guests ran distances of 300 m, 600 m and 5 km, as well as 10 km and a half marathon (21.1 km) along the Kazan embankment and the territory of the Tula Kremlin. At the finish line, all participants were given commemorative medals.

This event was held within the framework of the federal project “Sport is the norm of life” of the national project “Demography”, which appeared on the initiative of the country’s President Vladimir Putin.
