Ex-footballer Evgeny Savin and blogger KraSava became involved in a criminal case to discredit the Armed Forces of Russia, reports “RIA News” citing a law enforcement source. The reason for this was the blogger’s statements in an interview with Ksenia Sobchak, in which he condemned the actions of the Russian military in Ukraine.
“In an interview with Sobchak, the ex-football player spoke negatively about the Russian army and condemned its actions. A criminal case has been initiated under Article 280.3 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation,” explained the RIA Novosti source. At the same time, TASS writes that law enforcement agencies are still checking Yevgeny Savin’s statements under the administrative article about discrediting the Russian army.
In February of this year, the Tverskoy Court in Moscow fined the blogger 50 thousand rubles. under Article 20.3.3 of the Code of Administrative Offenses (discrediting the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation). For repeated violation of the law within a year, criminal liability is assumed under Part 1 of Art. 280.3 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (public actions aimed at discrediting the use of the RF Armed Forces). He could face imprisonment for up to five years.
On April 24, Ksenia Sobchak published an interview “Football in Russia is Russia” with Evgeny Savin on the YouTube channel “Caution: Sobchak”, in which he spoke negatively about the Russian army and condemned its actions. After this, State Duma deputy Roman Teryushkov said that he wrote a statement to law enforcement agencies with a request to initiate a criminal case against the blogger.
Previously, Evgeny Savin played for many Russian clubs as a professional football player. In particular, “Ural”, “Tom”, “Anji” and others. Now the blogger KraSava is in Cyprus. He has his own football club “Krasava” (founded in 2021) and a blog of the same name on the YouTube channel. More than 1.1 million people have subscribed to it.
