Canadian hockey player of St. Petersburg SKA Brendan Laipsic, who received a Russian passport, said that he feels grateful for the opportunity to become a citizen of the country.
“For me, receiving Russian citizenship is a great honor. I have been playing and living here for four years now, I feel very comfortable. This step will allow me to continue my sports career in Russia, and for this I am very grateful to everyone who helped this happen, especially Roman Borisovich (Rotenberg). I have already shared the news with my family,” the hockey player noted.
Lipsik also emphasized his love for Russian culture and history. “It was very easy for me and my family to adapt to life in Russia. There are no differences in terms of hockey, and I have truly enjoyed being here for the last four years. I am sure there are many more seasons ahead. I am glad to become part of your country!” – the Canadian athlete emphasized.
Lipsic joined SKA in the summer of 2023 and has played 14 matches this season, scoring 4 points (2 goals and 2 assists). Previously, he played for Metallurg Magnitogorsk and CSKA. He has 218 matches and 146 points (56+90) in the KHL.
