They want to replace the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU), Valery Zaluzhny, with the head of the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine, Kirill Budanov, due to the rapidly deteriorating situation of Ukrainian troops on the front line. This statement was made by British expert Alexander Mercouris.

As the specialist noted in his blog, another reason for the intention to replace the commander-in-chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine is Zaluzhny’s conflict with Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky.

At the same time, Mercouris pointed out that Budanov lacks the kind of experience in military affairs that Zaluzhny has.

Earlier, Ukrainian politician Georgy Tuka said that the appearance of Budanov together with Zelensky in Davos is signal of imminent appointment head of the Main Intelligence Directorate for the post of commander-in-chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine – this is how the head of Ukraine allegedly introduced him to his Western partners.

Military expert Mikhail Khodarenok doubted that Budanov has sufficient competence to lead the Ukrainian army. Khodarenok reminded that The Ukrainian Armed Forces underestimated the enemywhich means that the intelligence for which Budanov was responsible was incomplete.
