A boy in one shoe ran the Cross of Nations in Petrozavodsk

Today, September 16, Petrozavodsk joined the All-Russian Running Day “Cross of the Nation”, which took place on the embankment of Lake Onega.
According to the organizers, almost 800 people received starting numbers. Of these, 101 were preschoolers, 294 were participants in a mass race without time. 23 people will participate in the Nordic walking discipline. And 375 people received starting numbers to participate in sports races at various distances.
The race started at 10 am at the sculpture of fishermen. Nordic walking enthusiasts were the first to start, followed by races of 7600, 3800 and 1900 meters.
The runners covered the distance in a circle from the rotunda to the monument to Peter I.
MK in Karelia photojournalist Irina Yakovleva captured the bright moments of the big sports festival, and also told how one of the participants lost his sneaker at the start, but decided not to stop and not waste time and ran the distance in one shoe. At the finish line, the organizer handed him the lost shoes.
The participants did not just run the distance, but gave a good mood and charged everyone around with positivity with their bright costumes, funny makeup and smiles.
In gratitude for their love for sports, the organizers gave the winner a TV, the second runner received a lounge chair, and there were also certificates for ice cream, sweet gift sets, Wi-Fi boosters and pizza.
