In Volgograd, a criminal case was opened for desecration of Mamaev Kurgan. A 23-year-old resident of Samara is charged with desecration of burial places (part 1 of article 244 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation). The girl faces up to three months in jail.
We are talking about the video blogger Alena Agafonova. On July 20, she published a video on a social network banned in Russia, in which she captured her walk around the memorial complex. The girl pointed the camera at the compositional center of the monument-ensemble, zoomed in on the chest of the sculpture “The Motherland Calls!” and showed an obscene gesture. The video was removed a day after publication, but it managed to spread on the Internet.
How reported in the press service of the prosecutor’s office of the Volgograd region, now the investigators of OP No. 4 of the Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs for Volgograd are dealing with the case. The prosecutor’s office oversees the progress of the investigation.
The case file states that the suspect “committed cynical acts that disregard the norms of morality and morality, the video of which was subsequently posted on the Internet,” on the territory of the memorial complex “To the Heroes of the Battle of Stalingrad” on Mamaev Kurgan.
After receiving negative comments and showing interest from law enforcement officers, Alena Agafonova published a post with an apology. IN conversation with journalists, the girl repented, apologized and insisted that she was “stupid” and that she did not think to abuse the monument
