Sechenov University will create a bioreactor for creating custom-made human organs
The Sechenov University of Medicine plans to create a unique bioreactor for the production of custom-made organs. This was announced by the scientific director of the University’s Scientific and Technological Park of Biomedicine, Professor Pyotr Timashev, quoted by the Izvestia newspaper.
“Each individual case requires a special combination of factors that conventional bioreactors simply cannot provide. Therefore, the first priority is to create a system capable of creating the necessary environment for the growth of a specific tissue,” Timashev noted.
On February 15, it was announced that a research team from Moscow State University had developed a prototype galvanic vestibular stimulator that could significantly improve the vestibular function of astronauts in zero gravity conditions.
On February 13, it became known that Russian scientists began to explore the possibilities of quantum technologies in the field of medicine and pharmaceuticals, including the potential of quantum technologies for diagnosing and treating cancer.
In July 2023, Timashev reported promising research at Sechenov University on the development of hydrogels for the restoration of brain tissue after injury.
It was previously announced that Russian scientists had successfully performed a 3D-printed liver transplant.
