State Duma deputies from the LDPR party submitted for consideration a bill establishing the status of a volunteer in the zone of a special military operation. The initiative is designed to outline the areas of activity of volunteers in hot spots and secure payments in the event of death or injury of public activists.
“Already, SVO volunteers are provided with compensation related to possible death or injury in connection with the implementation of their activities in the relevant territories, but they are also not reflected in this law,” states the explanatory note to the bill (quoted from website State Duma).
The authors of the initiative note that in the current legislation, the organization and delivery of humanitarian aid to a zone of military conflict does not relate to volunteer activities. Legislators proposed amending the federal law “On Charitable Activities and Volunteering (Volunteering)” by including the delivery of humanitarian aid to the zone of Northern Military District, military conflicts, counter-terrorism operations, armed conflicts, DPR, LPR and border areas of Russia.
