A draft law will be submitted to the State Duma for consideration, requiring all educational institutions in the country to mandatorily display the Russian flag. This initiative was made by parliamentarians under the leadership of the chairman of the education committee Olga Kazakova.

The main goal of the bill is to support continuity and consistency in the process of developing in students a sense of patriotism, respect for traditional spiritual and moral values and all-Russian civic identity.

According to the explanatory note, it is proposed to establish mandatory placement of the state flag of the Russian Federation on a permanent basis on the buildings of educational organizations, regardless of their form of ownership, including kindergartens, schools, colleges, institutes and universities.

If this law is adopted, its provisions will come into force on September 1, 2024.
