A bas-relief of Yevgeny Roizman was opened in the Yekaterinburg City Hall

In the administration building of Yekaterinburg, bas-reliefs were opened in honor of two former mayors – Yevgeny Roizman (included in the register of foreign agents), who headed the city from 2013 to 2018, and Alexander Vysokinsky, who led in 2018-2021. Acting Mayor Alexei Orlov took part in the event.
According to Mr. Orlov, the opening of the renovated bas-relief row is timed to coincide with the 300th anniversary of Yekaterinburg. “This is our history, which must be remembered, somewhere we need to learn lessons, somewhere we need to learn from past mistakes. The history is different. Yekaterinburg is a city of contrasts, but dynamically developing, which over 300 years has gone from a small city-factory to one of the largest industrial, scientific and cultural centers of our country,” the mayor noted.
There is no indication of Yevgeny Roizman’s foreign agency next to his bas-relief. “What does the foreign agent have to do with it? In 2013, he was the popularly elected head of the city of Yekaterinburg. You can’t take words out of a song. I believe that this is simply historical justice,” Mr. Orlov explained.
The ceremony was also attended by Mr. Vysokinsky. Yevgeny Roizman, by a court decision, is prohibited from using the Internet and telephone, attending public places and events: a criminal case is being investigated against him for discrediting the armed forces of the Russian Federation (part 1 of article 280.3 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation). According to the investigation, he committed illegal actions by posting the video “Answers to your questions” on YouTube video hosting on July 1, 2022, where he shared a negative opinion about the Russian military special operation in Ukraine.
