In Russia, on March 12, a ban on the publication of polls, forecasts and studies related to the presidential elections came into force. The norm is spelled out in the law “On Basic Guarantees of Electoral Rights and the Right to Participate in Referendums of Citizens of the Russian Federation.”
The restriction will be in effect for five days before the last day of voting and on voting days, that is, from March 12 to 17. The ban also applies to publications on the Internet.
Voting in the Russian presidential elections will take place from March 15 to 17. The Central Election Commission of the Russian Federation registered four candidates: self-nominated Vladimir Putin, Nikolai Kharitonov from the Communist Party of the Russian Federation, Leonid Slutsky from the Liberal Democratic Party and Vladislav Davankov from the New People. The period of propaganda in the media, which began on February 17, continues in Russia. It will last until the first day of voting.
