A 7-year-old Volgograd resident became vice-champion in immortal chess

Seven-year-old Kolya Aleinikov from Volgograd won second place in the regional championship in immortal chess. The first place was taken by the titled Volgograd chess player, the current regional champion among men and boys in classical chess, Narek Manukyan.

According to the coach of the Gambit chess club, Mikhail Yakhtenfeld, Kolya came to the club at the age of five. The young talent is studying in the first grade and is a prize-winner of the Volgograd championship among chess players under 9 years old. In addition to chess, he is interested in astronomy and mathematics.

“Kolya came as a fairly ordinary child, except that his curiosity was noticeable,” says Mikhail Yakhtenfeld. – And then we had a competition, and I invited him to play. And quite unexpectedly he won this competition. It was an absolute sensation!”

The latest achievement of the young chess player to date is the title of vice-champion of the Volgograd region in immortal chess.

Immortal chess is a new version of the ancient game, which was invented by Volgograd resident Valery Danilchuk. According to him, according to the rules of immortal chess, there is no need to “kill” your opponent’s chess pieces. In addition, the king loses its status as a unique piece on the chessboard, since all pieces are equal, although each has its own task.

It is also noted that the strategy in the new version of the chess game should be more thoughtful, and the game acquires special excitement towards the end.
