A 13-year-old Volgograd resident took 3 gold medals at a weightlifting competition

Weightlifter Matvey Klimov from Leninsky district became the best in 3 categories at once. For the 13-year-old schoolboy, the Russian youth weightlifting championship in Orenburg was his debut.

400 people from 50 regions of the country took part in the competition. The athletes competed in two championships: among boys and girls aged 13–15 years, and also among 16–17 years old. Young athletes competed for awards in the all-around, as well as in certain types of the program – clean and jerk and snatch exercises with an apparatus.

Volgograd resident Matvey Klimov competed in the up to 89 kg category. The young man set 3 personal records at once, the regional sports committee reported.

In the snatch, a 13-year-old resident of the Leninsky district held a barbell weighing 105 kg, and in the clean and jerk he lifted 133 kg. In the biathlon, Matvey achieved a weight of 238 kg.

The young weightlifter trains under the guidance of his father Alexei Klimov at the Atlant physical education and sports club. The building appeared thanks to the regional project “Sport is the norm of life” of the national project “Demography”.
