In 2022, there were significant changes in the TV market in Russia – the traditional leaders among Western brands reduced their presence, and the vacated niches began to be rapidly filled by Chinese manufacturers, in addition, new Russian brands indicated their presence. Despite the departure from the market of TV manufacturers popular among Russians, their products are still represented in electronics stores and marketplaces. And it’s not for nothing that they say that habit is second nature: many buyers are still looking at Samsung, Sony, LG, Panasonic, Pioneer or Grundig TVs. Meanwhile, experts note a significant increase in sales of TVs from Chinese brands – both Haier, TCL, Fusion, Mystery, Harper, Xiaomi, already familiar to Russians, and TV brands such as Realme, HEC, Skyworth, new to the consumer.

Chinese manufacturers are increasing their presence on the Russian market in many areas, including the TV segment. At the same time, they offer products not only budget, but also premium.

— Among the companies there was a struggle for the leading positions. As a result, TVs made in China and Russia have grown significantly in sales,” said Tatyana Shalimova, Senior Product Marketing Manager in the TV category at Haier Corporation. – Now we can say for sure that the TV market will not be the same. Market leaders have changed and will not want to give up their seats. In addition, more and more buyers are looking towards Chinese brands such as Haier, MI, TCL and Hisense. And they strive to fill the market and offer a range in all segments.

The expert said that at the end of 2022, Haier introduced the S9 series OLED TV and the S5 and AX Pro series HQLED TVs. Hisense has unveiled a lineup of 14 TV models for 2023. All models in this range use the new Mini LED technology using mini LEDs that provide better contrast and deeper blacks than conventional LEDs. And Xiaomi announced the imminent start of sales on the Russian market of smart TVs of the Xiaomi TV A2 series, almost all models of which have a 4K screen, as well as a set of modern interfaces and technologies for improving sound and image at quite a budget price.

In addition, new Russian brands appeared on the market, as well as products from manufacturers from Uzbekistan and Turkey.

As consumers increasingly look to hybrid devices (if we talk about TVs, this is the ability to connect to the Internet and the presence of additional functionality in addition to the usual set of standard TV channels), many manufacturers are releasing smart TVs. Companies such as Sberbank and Yandex, which began to produce TVs with their own ecosystems, did not stand aside either. And if the prices for Sberbank and Yandex’s own products are close to the highest limit of the budget segment, then the TVs released by Yandex in collaboration with M.Video-Eldorado are also quite accessible to consumers with a modest budget. Therefore, it is no wonder that TVs with the Yandex.TV operating system under the Novex and Hi brands are in the top 5 sales.

Appeared in the trading network and competitive products of manufacturers from Uzbekistan.

“We have agreed on strategic cooperation with the Uzbek company Artel, the largest manufacturer of home appliances in Central Asia under its own brand and popular brands such as Samsung, Shivaki, etc. This company has already brought its “smart” TVs to the Russian market with characteristics similar to well-known brands, while at competitive prices,” said portal Telesputnik Andrey Petrov, Head of Product Communications of the PR Department of M.Video-Eldorado.

In general, there will definitely not be a shortage of TVs in Russia. And everyone will be able to choose a model according to their needs. But here the prices are unlikely to stand still, and, of course, they will change only upwards.

“2023 is expected to be a difficult year, both in terms of the unpredictability of the exchange rate, and based on the difficulties with logistics from China due to constant lockdowns,” notes Tatyana Shalimova. – In view of these factors, a decrease in prices for TVs should not be expected.

For the year, according to experts, the average growth can be 10 – 15%. So those who are going to buy a new TV should not hesitate to buy.
