The head of the pro-Russian administration of the Zaporozhye region controlled by Russian troops, Yevgeny Balitsky, turned to Vladimir Putin with a request to accept the region into Russia. Within what boundaries Mr. Balitsky asks to join the region is not specified. In May, a member of the main council of the pro-Russian administration of Zaporozhye, Vladimir Rogov, said that Russia controlled more than 70% of the region’s territory.

“Zaporozhye region addresses the Russian Federation with a proposal to accept the Zaporozhye region into the Russian Federation as a new subject,” reads the document published in Telegram Vladimir Rogov. It also proposes to conclude an agreement between the Zaporozhye region and Russia on the acceptance of the region as a new subject.

Previously with the same treatment spoke head of the LPR Leonid Pasechnik and head of the pro-Russian administration of the Kherson region Vladimir Saldo. The head of the DPR, Denis Pushilin, has not yet made such a statement. The heads of the pro-Russian administrations of the Zaporozhye and Kherson regions in the near future should visit Moscow.

According to the results of the referenda, which were held from September 23 to 27, 99% of the referendum participants voted for joining Russia in the DPR, and 98% in the LPR. In the Kherson region, 87% voted for joining Russia, in Zaporizhzhia – 93% of the referendum participants.
