In the Canadian province of British Columbia, efforts are underway to prevent the spread of a deadly “zombie virus” among deer.

Local officials have developed a strategy to combat chronic wasting disease (CWD) and have ordered testing of all roadkill deer, elk and caribou.

This dangerous disease attacks the brain and nervous system of animals, leading to symptoms such as excessive drooling, lack of coordination, apathy and a blank stare, leading some to call it “zombie deer disease”, reports The Guardian.
