Scientists from the Institute of Medical and Biological Problems of the Russian Academy of Sciences, Doctor of Biological Sciences, Professor, Head of the Department of Physiology of Human Gravitational Stability Elena Fomina and Candidate of Medical Sciences, leading researcher in the laboratory “Physiology of Acceleration and Artificial Gravity” Alexey Salnikov spoke about modern human preparation for space conditions and plans visit the moon.
“If an astronaut currently flies for about six months, then the best option to reduce the load is to reduce the flight time. This way we can protect ourselves from radiation,” says Elena Fomina. – On the Moon, radiation issues will also arise, because a person on the Moon will receive a dose 3 times greater than on the ISS. Therefore, when the ROSS orbital station appears, first of all, we will develop technologies related to radiation. Now we already know that when flying in the conditions of the ISS, a person calmly returns and after a while we can send him again. For the Moon, we must determine the limits, how long a person can stay there, whether the kind of prevention system that we use on the ISS now is needed there, and so on.
