The head of the ROC called decisions on Russian athletes “dirty tricks”

Suspending Russian athletes and interfering in sports by creating discriminatory criteria are dirty tricks on the part of the West. This opinion was voiced on Friday, December 15, by the President of the Russian Olympic Committee (ROC) Stanislav Pozdnyakov.
He noted that despite the trends, the training of athletes and teams continues, and the reserve is being prepared.
“The reason for all this is the geopolitical claims of the West. Suspending athletes, interfering in sports by creating discriminatory criteria – all these are dirty tricks,” Stanislav Pozdnyakov said at the Olympic meeting of the ROC.
He also noted that the removal of athletes from Russia and Belarus was supported by those who wanted to get rid of competitors.
Let us remind you that the International Olympic Committee (IOC) announced admission of Russian and Belarusian athletes to the Summer Olympic Games, which will be held in 2024 in Paris, in an individual neutral status and subject to certain criteria. In particular, they will be prohibited from “any activity related to the national flag, anthem, emblem or any other symbol of Russia and Belarus.” Supporting the special operation at any official event or in the media before, during or after the Olympic Games is also prohibited.
Let us recall that on the eve of December 14, Russian President Vladimir Putin, during a direct line and press conference, said that the Ministry of Sports and R&D should make an informed decision on the participation of Russian athletes in international competitions. In particular, he noted that they should “carefully analyze what conditions the IOC puts forward.”
On December 15, it became known that the Ministry of Sports and the Russian Olympic Committee will study the conditions of the International Olympic Committee (IOC) and will make a decision on the participation of Russian athletes in the Olympics.
