Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis said he was open to meeting with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan. The newspaper “Kathimerini” writes about it.
Mitsotakis suggested that Prague could be a potential venue for such a meeting.
At the same time, the prime minister emphasized that he would not impose his communication on Erdogan.
During a press conference in Thessaloniki, Mitsotakis said that he wanted to “establish friendly relations between Greece and Turkey, which would look not only to the past, but also to the future.”
Earlier, media in Europe and Turkey reported warning shots fired by the Greek Coast Guard in international waters near the Turkish province of Canakkale. This happened after the appearance of the cargo ship Anatolian under the flag of the Comoros.
There were no casualties during the incident. On board the ship were 6 citizens of Egypt, 4 Somalis, 3 citizens of Azerbaijan and the same number of citizens of Turkey.
