The Moscow Department of Transport plans to cover the entire channel of the Moscow River with river buses by 2035, Zhanna Yermolina, deputy head of the Moscow Metro for work with passengers, said. According to her, after the launch of the first route, the city authorities began to “work out the development of the following routes.”
“The plans are to develop this type of transport until 2035 and actually cover the entire course of the Moskva River, which runs through Moscow,” Ms. Yermolina said at the international transport summit (quoted by RIA Novosti).
At the forum, the first deputy head of the transport department, Roman Latypov, announced an increase in the share of public transport compared to private transport in Moscow. According to him, it has recovered to pre-Covid indicators. In 2022, the share was 64%, in 2023 an increase to 67% is recorded.
President Vladimir Putin and Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin launched river boats in Moscow as a form of urban public transport in June. For year-round route 50-seat electric river trams with panoramic windows left the Kievsky railway station to Shelepikha.
Telegram channel last week “Caution, Moscow” reported that the trams stopped running on the routes because they were not loaded.
