In Russia, officials plan to discuss with representatives of South Africa the possibility of importing animals from the provinces of Limpopo and Gauteng for local zoos, in particular elephants, giraffes, antelopes, hippos and zebras living in game reserves. This was reported by the press service of the Rosselkhoznadzor. There was no mention of the timing of the import.
After a video conference with the Ministry of Agriculture of South Africa, the department spoke about the discussion about the export of pork, beef and poultry meat to the African continent. Representatives of Africa at the same time reported their interest in the supply of the same products to the Russian Federation.
The Rosselkhoznadzor added that after the completion of all important checks, discussions will begin on the conditions for the import of meat, as well as wild animals from Africa, which could be of interest to domestic business.
