The launch of the Luna-26 orbital spacecraft for remote exploration of the Earth’s natural satellite is scheduled for 2027. This was announced on Wednesday, August 9, by Alexander Bloshenko, executive director of Roscosmos for advanced programs and science.
As Bloshenko noted in an interview with Rossiyskaya Gazeta, this device is intended for remote exploration of the Moon, and it will also be a signal repeater from the next Luna-27, a more complex landing station with a drilling rig.
Meanwhile, preparations continue for the launch of Luna-25, scheduled for August 11. The Soyuz-2.1b rocket with the lunar station has already been brought to the launch pad at the Vostochny cosmodrome in the Amur Region and placed in a vertical position.
Along with the implementation of its own plans for the exploration of the Moon, Russia is ready to help other states in this direction. Bloshenko noted that our country plans to become a regional operator of space activities. Roscosmos will continue share space technologies with other countriesbut provided that there is no threat to Russia’s national security.
