The Russian team took advantage of the invitation to the Bolivarian ALBA Games

Our country has become the first non-Bolivarian Alliance for the Peoples of the Americas to have the opportunity to field a team at the ALBA Bolivarian Games. They started in Venezuela for the fifth time.
Together with our athletes in the cities of Caracas and La Guaira, representatives of another ten states perform. These are Antigua and Barbuda, Bolivia, Venezuela, Grenada, Cuba, Nicaragua, Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, Saint Lucia, Saint Kitts and Nevis, the Commonwealth of Dominica. In total, about 3500 participants will compete.
The Russian squad consists of 48 people and competes for awards in seven sports – boxing, karate, table tennis, beach volleyball, trampolining, weightlifting and rhythmic gymnastics. Boxer Ivan Veryasov and tennis player Elisabeth Abrahamyan were flag bearers of the national team at the opening ceremony.
Participation in the ALBA Bolivarian Games is another step towards the gradual return of Russian athletes to the international arena. The competition will last until April 29.
