Advances in Russian medicine make it possible to return 98% of soldiers wounded during a military operation to the battlefield, said the head of the Russian Academy of Sciences, Gennady Krasnikov. According to him, 80% of people with amputations also return to the front.
“In the Northern Military District, 98% are returning our wounded soldiers back to the battlefield. These are outstanding numbers. In our country, with proper organization, only less than 1% are fatal for those fighters who were immediately taken from the battlefield. This is very important,” said Mr. Krasnikov “RIA News”.
The head of the Russian Academy of Sciences claims that the recovery period for the wounded has been reduced due to the emergence of new materials that allow the generation of bone tissue. “Recovery of 70 percent burns” is being carried out. “I would also like to note a unique indicator – where there is a limb defect or amputation, modern technologies allow, and today this is already a fact, 80% of amputees also return to the battlefield. Moreover, they themselves choose where to participate,” added Mr. Krasnikov.
Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu said in December 2023 that the mortality rate among those wounded during the SVO is less than 0.5% and continues to decline. According to him, more than 98% of the wounded are discharged with recovery.
