93.8% of Russian parents reported an increase in the cost of preparing their child for school

In 2023, preparing a child for school has become more expensive compared to last year, according to a survey by the Action Education platform, 93.8% of Russian parents said this. 34.4% of the respondents spent up to 40,000 rubles on preparing their child for school, and 38.5% of parents spent up to 20,000 rubles.
According to the results of the study, the materials of which are cited Forbes, clothing was the biggest expense item for 95.7% of the parents surveyed. Significant amounts are also spent on:
- purchase of stationery (49.7% of respondents reported this category);
- paying tutors to prepare for school (29.1%);
- organization of an educational place for a child (27%);
- purchase of textbooks (13%);
- gifts for the school line (6.2%).
It also follows from the survey that 34.4% of the parents of Russian schoolchildren spent up to 40,000 rubles on preparing their child for school, and 38.5% of the parents surveyed spent up to 20,000 rubles. 13% of parents spent up to 50,000 rubles on preparing their child for the new academic year, and another 6.6% of survey participants spent up to 70,000 rubles.
1220 parents of children from seven to 18 years old from different cities of Russia took part in the survey of the Action Education platform.
