87 masters of sports in rowing were trained in Pskov

This week, rowing in Pskov turned 60 years old. The head of Pskov, Boris Elkin, announced this in his Telegram channel.
He noted that during this time, Pskov rowers managed to achieve noticeable heights and repeatedly found themselves on the podium.
“7 Olympic medals, 15 gold medals from the World Championships and 4 medals from the European Championships!” – listed Boris Elkin. And then he drew attention to the fact that these results would have been impossible without the founder of rowing in Pskov Oleg Mikhailov, the great coach Valery Prokopenko and his legendary women’s four-swing with coxswain, participant in three Olympiads, Olympic bronze medalist Sergei Matveev, coach Vladimir Rogozhin, who prepared 30 masters of sports and other outstanding athletes.
The head of Pskov also shared thematic statistics in honor of the anniversary. It says that over 6 decades the city has trained 5 honored coaches, 2 honored workers of physical culture and sports, 8 honored masters of sports. In addition, Pskov boasts 11 international masters of sports and 87 masters of sports.
