56 children returned home from Syrian refugee camps to Russia

A Russian delegation led by Presidential Commissioner for Human Rights Maria Lvova-Belova returned 56 children with Russian citizenship from refugee camps in Syria. This was announced by Rear Admiral Oleg Gurinov, Deputy Head of the Russian Center for the Reconciliation of Warring Parties in Syria.
“The official Russian delegation headed by the Commissioner for Children’s Rights under the President of the Russian Federation Maria Lvova-Belova from the refugee camps of the northeastern regions of Syria returned to their homeland 56 children whose parents were citizens of the Russian Federation,” Oleg Gurinov told TASS.
The press service of the Ministry of Health reported that all children brought from Syria will be treated at the Russian Children’s Clinical Hospital. Doctors assess their condition as stable, they will undergo rehabilitation for several weeks. As Maria Lvova-Belova reported, the Russian delegation must return 200 more children with Russian citizenship from Syria.
By data as of July 2022, there were children from more than 50 countries, including Russia, in refugee camps in Zaevfrat. At that time, there were more than a thousand cases in the database of children wanted by Russian citizens in this region. The program for the removal of Russians from Syria was launched in 2018.
