On June 26, Medvedev held the first training session as part of the pre-season training camp at the Olimpiyskaya base. This was announced by the official public of the club.
On the eve of the new coach, the team was introduced by the general director of FC Novosibirsk Alexei Tolokonsky. According to him, the coaching staff this season will consist exclusively of people to whom the club is especially dear for one reason or another. One of them, Alexei Medvedev, is a significant figure in Novosibirsk football.
In 2009, he was the captain of Sibir, scored 18 goals and became the top scorer in the First Division, securing the team promotion to the Premier League. It was Medvedev who scored the first balls in the history of Novosibirsk football in the top division of the Russian Championship and in Eurocups. And now, 10 years after those high-profile victories, he returned to Novosibirsk again, but now as the head coach of FC.
Before that, Medvedev coached the clubs of the Second League: Zorkiy, Kolomna, Krasny, Saturn.
He admits that when he was invited to Novosibirsk, he agreed without much thought, since this team is dear to him.
FC Novosibirsk is a team with a great history and great ambitions. She simply has to play in the big leagues. Of course, I’m worried, it’s a big responsibility, but I think everything will work out,” said Alexander Medvedev.
The club’s subscribers on social networks were enthusiastic about the appointment of a new coach and wished Medvedev good luck, calling him “the last hope.”
In addition to Medvedev, Evgeny Obgolts will return to the coaching staff this season, Alexander Erokhin will work with goalkeepers.
Recall that earlier “MK” wrote that Alexei Tolokonsky was appointed director of FC Novosibirsk.
