3×3 gives six thousand – Sport – Kommersant

On Sunday, the 3×3 Basketball Festival Red Square Cup ended in Moscow. During the two days of the large-scale tournament, Gostiny Dvor, which hosted the competition, was visited by 6,000 spectators and participants. The culmination of the festival was the international tournament Red Square Cup among professionals, in which both top Russian teams and reputable foreign guests, including Partizan Belgrade, performed. Permian Bionord PRO became the winner of the tournament.

The current Red Square Cup was the second in a row. The first one took place a year ago and brought together about 500 teams of different ages and levels – from children to highly professional ones. The success of the event gave its organizers: the Russian Street Basketball Association and the Moscow Department of Sports every reason to repeat, as they say. Approximately at the same time, and in the same place – in Gostiny Dvor.

The actual festival part, like a year ago, was represented by numerous competitions, DJ sets and even an art exhibition. However, 3×3 basketball remained the key one, which went on non-stop for two days. Only in the children’s tournament for boys and girls in the age categories from 7 to 13 years, 250 teams took part. So many participants in the Russian history of 3×3 basketball have never gathered in one place, at one time. Just as representative, for two and a half hundred teams (they represented 52 cities at once), a massive tournament turned out, in which everyone aged 14 to 45 could apply to participate. As a result, six thousand spectators and participants passed through the festival in two days. But perhaps there is nothing surprising in such an interest in this sport, not so much surprising. Do not forget that, for example, at the 2020 Games, both the men’s and women’s 3×3 basketball teams of Russia won silver medals. By the way, in playing sports, the Russian team at the Tokyo Olympics with a full set, that is, both men’s and women’s teams, was represented only in 3×3 basketball and volleyball.

Well, the Red Square Cup tournament became the culmination of the festival. The strongest teams in Russia took part in it, including the already mentioned silver medalists of the Tokyo Games and the U23 national team, as well as teams and titled teams from Serbia (represented by Partizan Belgrade), Belarus, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan. Inanomo (Moscow, champion and winner of the Russian Cup) and Bionord PRO from Perm reached the final. The Perm team turned out to be stronger, even if only by one accurate throw (final score 16:15). In the match for the third place, Partizan beat the St. Petersburg TsOP Bad Boys (16:11).
