“Serge was one of the most athletic and healthy people I knew! Like a bull! I went to Switzerland for a checkup (comprehensive diagnostics of the body.— “b”) The MRI contrast fluid and the subsequent MRI led first to allergies, then to coma, and then to death,” Muntean wrote.
Sergey Karshkov was born in 1980 in the Kyiv region. Subsequently, he moved to Bryansk, where he headed the department for combating cybercrime in the Internal Affairs Directorate of the Bryansk region. Later, Mr. Karshkov, together with Roman Semiokhin and Dmitry Kazorin, founded the 1xBet bookmaker.
In 2020, the Investigative Department of the TFR for the Bryansk region put three founders of 1xBet on the wanted list in the case of illegal organization and conduct of gambling (Article 171.2 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation). According to investigators, as a result of illegal activities, an organized group of malefactors earned more than 63 billion rubles in the period from October 2014 to May 2019. It was reported that Mr. Karshkov had lived in Cyprus in recent years.
The 1xBet service is banned in Russia, and its website is blocked by Roskomnadzor because the company has not received a mandatory license from the Federal Tax Service.
