At the recent all-Russian bicycle trial competition in Samara, our athlete managed to win a silver medal, although he could well claim gold.

According to Volgogradskaya Pravda.ru, at this junior championship, the participating countries competed in the Trial-24 category (the number indicates the diameter of the wheels in inches). The task was to overcome 4 sectors, each of which contained 6 gates. For the successful passage of each gate, the participant was awarded 10 points, but even the slightest mistake, such as touching the ground with his foot, meant deprivation of points for the entire sector.

The competition was held in a spacious outdoor parking lot and attracted about 30 participants. The sectors consisted of wooden coils, pallets, concrete and logs. It was during the passage of the sector with logs that our athlete made an unfortunate mistake, which deprived him of gold and the opportunity to join the Russian team.

Cyril himself admitted that he had planned the tactics of passing this sector incorrectly. As a result, he just drove past one gate and did not receive a single point out of a possible 60 for this sector.

The Volgograd citizen has been involved in bicycle trials for about 5 years, but before that he had been looking for his favorite sports discipline for a long time. At first he chose swimming, learned to swim, but lost interest in this sport. Then he tried his hand at judo, but quickly realized that this was not his path.

Currently, Kirill Safonov has become a candidate for master of sports and has many medals received at various competitions. The main fans of the Volgograd athlete are his mother and beloved Katya. In addition to cycling, Kirill also enjoys playing basketball and volleyball.
