14-year-old judoka will represent the Stavropol region at the championship of Russia

Sofia Kulabukhova, a 14-year-old judoka from the Izobilnensky district, will go to the Russian championship as the best athlete in the North Caucasus Federal District. This became known following the results of the judo competitions in the North Caucasus Federal District, which were held in Nalchik the day before. 300 young athletes competed for the first places in six weight categories.
The girl has been practicing judo for eight years, over the past three years she has repeatedly occupied leading positions in the championships of the Stavropol Territory and the North Caucasus Federal District.
In addition to Sophia, two more pupils of the children’s and youth sports school of the Izobilnensky district distinguished themselves at the competitions in Nalchik – Anna Davtyan and Ekaterina Shirobokova took third place.
All athletes train under the guidance of the senior coach-teacher in judo and sambo Alexander Sokolenko. Alexander Grigoryevich has been the head of the section for more than 20 years. Generations of excellent athletes, prize-winners and champions of Russia, Europe and the world have come out from under the wing of a coach of the highest category. One of his students is International Master of Sports Kristina Bulgakova, who defends the honor of the country in the main Russian team.
To date, about a hundred children are engaged in the section.
