11 villas of Akron owner Vyacheslav Kantor arrested in Italy

The Italian authorities confiscated from the owner of the Russian manufacturer of mineral fertilizers “Akron» Viacheslav Kantor 11 villas in Sardinia. About it informs the newspaper L’Unione Sarda, citing employees of the Financial Guard, who seized the businessman’s property due to the sanctions imposed against Russia.
It is clarified that the villas either belong directly to the businessman, or are somehow connected with his assets. They are located in the resort of Porto Rotondo on the northeast coast of Sardinia.
According to the publication, among the seized real estate there are also objects that were previously owned by the closest relatives of former Italian Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi. In particular, one of them belonged to his mother, and the other to his younger brother Paolo.
The Council of Europe decided to confiscate Kantor’s assets back in April this year after the businessman fell under EU sanctions. In June, Kantor got rid of control in Akron (a group of companies producing mineral fertilizers). He transferred 45.1% of his shares to three top managers of the company, reducing his stake to 40.85%.
Earlier, the British authorities arrested the yacht of the Russian businessman Dmitry Pumpyansky. He also came under British sanctions amid the situation in Ukraine. In July, it became known that the yacht would be auctioned off in Gibraltar. In late August, Bloomberg reported that the ship had gone under the hammer. The exact cost and the name of the new owner are not specified.
