11 embankments to be renovated in Moscow in 2023

11 embankments of the capital will be repaired this year. This was announced by the Deputy Mayor of Moscow for Housing and Public Utilities and Improvement Pyotr Biryukov.
Repair work will be carried out by specialists of the Moscow municipal economy complex on Bolotnaya, Derbenevskaya, Kadashevskaya, Kozhevnicheskaya, Krutitskaya, Nagatinskaya, Prechistenskaya, Raushskaya, Ustyinskaya and Yakimanskaya embankments, as well as on the section of the Vodootvodny Canal from Maly Krasnokholmskoye to Sluzovoi Bridge and part of Sluzovaya Embankment.
As the Deputy Mayor of Moscow specified, a total of more than 190,000 linear meters of granite facing of embankments will be repaired. First, the tile joints will be cleaned with sandblasters, then the old filler will be removed from the joints, the voids will be washed, filled with polymer cement material, and finally treated with a waterproof solution.
“These events are held every five years,” said Pyotr Biryukov. “They are necessary to ensure the safe operation of structures, because over time, the material of the seams is destroyed, which can lead to displacement of granite slabs and even to their fall out.”
The work will practically not bring any inconvenience to the townspeople and tourists, since the scaffolding will be installed from the side of the water.
