At the upcoming critical stage of development, Russia must determine its future path, which will have to be based on its own and original development concepts. This statement was made by the head of the Constitutional Court (CC) of the Russian Federation Valery Zorkin during his speech dedicated to the 30th anniversary of the Constitution.
At the same time, he emphasized that Russia should not ignore Western achievements in the political, legal and economic spheres, which are now being applied in the Russian Federation.
“Without losing or ignoring those achievements of Western civilization that may be useful and acceptable, Russia will have to determine its own path, its own political, legal and socio-economic destiny,” said the chairman of the Constitutional Court.
Zorkin also believes that the country needs, under the current circumstances, to overcome the split within society, when many people have different guidelines and values.
